Interim Management

FirstExec are the driving force and inspiration behind winning teams

Our interim executives enable incumbent managers and teams to rise to the challenges facing the business. Through their leadership and energy others are inspired.

Why use interim managers?

Flatter organisational structures and the drive towards a leaner businesses have meant that internal resources have become stretched. Unanticipated or extraordinary circumstances are difficult to manage except by applying interim managers. The interim executive provides the availability, expertise and flexibility to handle these occurrences allowing the organisation to retain its lean structure.

Advantages of using interim managers rather than other resources

  • Rapid deployment which provides the flexibility to respond to any conditions that present themselves.
  • They prevent dilution and division of incumbent managers.
  • Interims can fill the gap between the hiring of full time executives allowing time to make the right permanent choice.
  • Interims are committed hands-on people who are focussed exclusively on the task.
  • Most interim managers have no desire to join the company on a full time basis.
  • Interim managers can provide a fresh approach particularly in the launch of new products or ventures.
  • They have the necessary experience and credibility to be able to coach more junior managers.
  • Interim managers are loyal to the client and have no political agenda.
  • They don't seek advancement within the company and as such do not pose a threat to others.
  • They operate over a predetermined period, at a set cost.
  • For peace of mind, all FirstExec's interim managers are insured for professional indemnity and public liability.

Costs

It may be felt that engaging interim managers is an expensive option.
Typical day rates are:
£400 - £600 for middle management.
£500 - £1,000 for senior management.
£800 - £2,000+ for boardroom senior executives.

It is difficult to compare the daily fees of an interim manager with the equivalent daily cost of a full time employee in a similar role. Clients must factor in costs associated with hiring permanent employees such as:

  • the cost of recruitment
  • fully financed company car
  • administration, tax and NI
  • holiday pay, sick pay, severance pay
  • company annual bonus and individual bonus
  • pension, private health care and other benefits
  • training and induction

FirstExec interim managers are high calibre executives that represent excellent value for money.
